Catholic Schools Week, the annual celebration of Catholic schools and their contribution to their communities and the nation, will take place January. 27 through February 2, 2008. For more than three decades, the nation’s Catholic schools have spent the last week of January recalling what makes Catholic education special.
The 2008 theme is "Catholic Schools Light the Way." The theme focuses on the leadership that Catholic Schools provide to our nation, producing graduates who light the way to a brighter future for all humankind. The theme also highlights the spiritual foundation of Catholic schools, for we are on "The Way," a biblical term used to describe those who follow Jesus as disciples. The slogan, "Catholic Schools Light the Way," reminds us that we are called to "light the way" to the kingdom for others even as we walk "the way" of discipleship and grow in faith ourselves.
“As we inspire the mind and soul in every area of the curriculum at Regina, we empower our students to ‘light the way’ to a brighter future as they learn, serve and lead,” said Sr. Maureen Burke, SND, principal
The Regina High School community will celebrate the week with several special activities. A “Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day” is slated for Tuesday, January 29. A Social for all parents of current students will take place at the school on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, January 30, Bishop Richard Lennon will visit the school and celebrate the Eucharist. Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. All are invited to attend.
