'Harvest for Hunger' Drive a Huge Success
as Jody Scimone Sets New School Record

Harvest for Hunger is a big event in Northeast Ohio that takes place in March, and Regina is proud to say that we are one of the top schools in donations. This year Regina High School donated nearly 11,000 canned goods and more than $500 in donations. Regina has been involved in Harvest for Hunger for about 10 years and we are still going strong! Harvest for Hunger is one of the largest fundraisers in the nation that raises critical critical resources for local hunger relief organizations.

Regina is known for its generous donations. Regina was #1 in Greater Cleveland Schools, winning the Platinum Award three consecutive years in a row! Some other awards received include the Roy Borgio Award, Feinstein Award for Hunger Free America, a $1,000 award and Regina placed in the Top 50 Schools in the U.S.A.

  “Although it tends to be a little stressful, I really enjoy everything that I do for Harvest for Hunger. It all pays off in the end and being able to achieve our goal is always a plus, too,” senior said Ashley Holmes, who is a Co-Chairperson in the event. Ashley along with Co-Chairperson, senior Sabrina Tonschock and faculty advisor Ms. DeCorpo, coordinated Regina’s program.  

The amount of canned goods or money donated for Harvest for Hunger can be unlimited. Senior Jody Scimone set a new school record by bringing in 2,249 canned goods and Senior Sabrina Tonschock brought in the second highest number of cans totaling 1,337. Senior Jenna Montali brought in 422 cans, the third highest in the school.

 Regina High School is one of the top schools with their hard working students and faculty trying to achieve or surpass its goals.  With Regina being a member of Harvest for Hunger for about 10 years and being very successful it continues to keep working hard. Helping people in need makes the world a better place, and that is why Harvest for Hunger has been so successful.
