Despite the cost of food rising and the need for assistance increasing, the Cleveland Foodbank reaped a record Harvest for Hunger this year. As always, the generosity of the Regina High School community was shining.

During a recent ceremony held at the Cleveland Foodbank, Regina High School was presented with the Hunger Champion Award for our “extraordinary commitment to the fight against hunger”. Our school was number one in pounds of food donated. (We contributed 7,130 pounds of food!) We were also recognized for our sizeable cash donation.

More than 400 companies, supermarkets, schools, nonprofit groups and government agencies collected the money and food over the last three months.

Senior Jody Scimone was recognized for setting a new school record by bringing in 2,249 canned goods.

Regina has participated in the Harvest for Hunger drive for about 10 years.  The Foodbank services agencies in 19 Northeast Ohio counties.
