On Wednesday, May 13, the Regina High community celebrated the feast of St. Julie Billiart, patron saint of the Sisters of Notre Dame, by imitating her spirit of service.
The day began with the Regina community gathering in the chapel for a prayer service. Following the service, senior Alexa Petrarca crowned the statue of Mary.
Students, faculty and staff members then spent the day performing service at locations that serve children, the disabled, the elderly, and the disadvantaged. The Regina community assisted agency staff in many capacities including tutoring, classroom aides, visiting patients, gardening, cleaning, and organizing.
“As Christians, we are called to serve one another,” said Sr. Sally Huston, SND, Regina High Assistant Principal. “This experience helps our students develop skills in communication, leadership and organization. In addition, students will realize the joy and personal fulfillment that comes from serving our brothers and sisters.”
