Regina Seniors Set for Annual Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C.

Seniors at Regina High School will travel to Washington, D.C. October 5 through 7, as part of the school’s yearly senior pilgrimage. This year marks the 37th annual pilgrimage to the nation’s capitol.  “The primary focus of our pilgrimage is prayer…for peace… for our nation, and prayer to Mary,” said Sr. Sally Huston, assistant principal at Regina and trip coordinator.

En route, the pilgrimage will stop in Shanksville, PA, site of the Flight 93 memorial. “I’m looking forward to the pilgrimage, especially the visit to Shanksville,” said Katie Cvelbar, senior. “It has been six years since the attack and I think it’s good for us to remember what happened.”

Students will visit the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and have planned a prayer service at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto. A special Mass for students and area Regina High alumnae will be held at the Arlington Cemetery amphitheater. Following Mass, a brunch will be served at the Ft. Myers Officers’ Club.
.

Tours of the White House, Smithsonian and other area monuments and museums round out the trip.

“I am so excited,” said Jenna Montali, senior. “This is a great opportunity to grow closer to my class through prayer.”

Congratulations to Engineering Students

Rockwell Automation, a leading global provider of industrial automation control and information solutions, has chosen three Regina engineering students for the company's Internship program for the summer of 2007. This eight-week paid internship program is focused on engineering development. The Rockwell representative wrote:

"You can all be very proud of the Regina students! They really stood out over the other schools. My team had decided to choose two students from each school. Two of the team members made the comment that they didn't even know what to do with the Regina applications, because they were all so good. In fact, they were so good that we decided to expand the program so that we could invite three students to join us. The three we chose were Jessica Burk, Megan Gunsaulus, and Brittany Herold."

Congratulations to Art Students

Regina's art department is a winner! The design of art student Bridget Lamb is the one chosen for the oversized guitar to be on display at the Rock Hall of Fame. Regina is one of 25 area high schools participating in the United Way’s “It’s All Guitars,” a project of GuitarMania to benefit the United Way and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s education fund. Under art teacher Ms. Kate Gardner’s guidance, several art students are turning a Fender Stratocaster guitar into a work of art. The theme of art student Bridget Lamb's design is “Cleveland: A Sweet City.” Click here to read more about this project and view the designs from all the schools.
