Mrs. Maureen Becker’s "Intro to Medicine" class recently visited the newly renovated Radiology department at the University Suburban Health Center in South Euclid.
Jane Cranley Sell’79, Radiology technician, gave the students a tour of several imaging modalities including Computed Tomography, Bone Densitometry, Mammography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Dr. DeMarco, Radiologist, even demonstrated what is involved in reading a medical scan.
Students gained an understanding of some of the diagnostic tool and tests used to assess patient conditions.
Our Intro to Medicine class studies the field of medicine as it relates to specific “patients”. Recently the students “operated” on a patient in need of a total hip replacement. Interactive surgical procedures via the internet are often used in class.
