 Never underestimate the power of prayer. That is the firm belief of Mr. J. Ivan Prcela. He has a keen interest in theology, especially in the ever-growing theology of St. Joseph. Mr. Prcelea recently visited the Sophomore Theology class and offered inspirations on the life of St. Joseph, and his roles as a husband, father and worker. He shared the following prayer of salutation which was sent to Pope John Paul II on four different occasions and twice to Pope Benedict XVI:
Prayerful Salutation to St. Joseph
Hail, Joseph the just man,
Virgin-Husband of the virgin-wife,
Full of virtues:
The Lord is with you and your spouse!
Blessed is the fruit of this wedlock –
Jesus by the Holy Spirit conceived.
Saint Joseph, Messiah’s virgin-father,
Pray for us sinners to Jesus,
Whom from the massacre in Bethlehem you saved for the cross in Jerusalem
And with your Father’s love, for our altars
You nourished him,
That is the warmth of the fire of the Eucharist,
We can, in the spirit of St. Francis, our death await.
Amen. Alleluia.
Mr. Prcela is the father of Maria Prcela Jackson ’84, Anita Prcela Giuston ’86 and Terasita Prcela Shepherd ’89. He is also the grandfather of Kristina Jackson ‘12 and Melyssa Jackson ’13.
